Seetu, my greatest asset....

Nawang sent me a message on Facebook, "Bhawana Miss valentine lai message send nagarne?" He was talking about his social event 'Cupid For a Cause', which he and some other volunteers of Big Brother and Sister had been doing to bring 44 students of Gimdi and Simle for an educational visit to Kathmandu. I liked the cause they had choosen and wanted to participate in it. And the name of my valentine came in my mind, 'Seetu miss', a person who is with me everyday and every moment. She is not with me only during school hours but always as we do share every moment with each other. Our happy moments and sad as well. So there would be no other measure to thank her for her every support she has given and every care she has shown. So I thought to give her a surprise wish.
And today as we had a plan to have our first meeting for the newsletter of TFN Fellows, I thought to give her the surprise there. So we were all set Nawang to sing and Swoit with his guitar and I with ballons on my hands. We were waiting her. We had planned to meet at 11 am but it was already 11:30. And we knew that Seetu came, so we became ready to give her a surprise and when she opened the door we were shouted 'Surprise' but calmly she said, "Sorry I am late". We were expecting her different reaction. After sometime she began to have a loud laugh.
So the day was just amazing. Being a TFN Fellow I feel that one of the greatest asset that I have got is Seetu. I would never have got such a wonderful friend, if I hadn't joined Teach For Nepal.

Students' enthusiasm on English Fair........

As we held 'Magical Math' (Maths Exhibition), we came to the realization that practical knowledge is far more better than the theoretical one. So with this realization, we are trying to do one more event so that we can have more practical achievements in English as well but for this we needed the support from other co-fellows. So we asked for help and interest in it. So far Prabin dai and Kushal had shown interest. So we are going to have a discussion over it.
Grade six students preparing materials for English Fair

But I wanted to get my student's reaction as well on this issue. So I gave them some information about it. And I could see the enthusiasm over it today. I told them few things about it yesterday and today they came up with so many good ideas and games and they are so curious about their new friends who would come for the program. They have been asking a lot of questions about which school it would be? How many students would be coming and so on. Hope we would fix the date as soon as possible and conduct the fair.
But I am really happy to see them working with their new ideas even in the off classes. Here, it gives me immense pleasure that the junior level students i.e. grade six and seven students try to participate in all the extra activities and even doing good in academics where as the senior level students especially the grade nine students don't want to participate in any of the activities and even showing carelessness in their academics. They take everything as a joke now  a days. Me and Seetu are trying our best to get them involved but they don't want to. May be this is because of age, but we think that it should be solved quickly otherwise it would bring negative impact and the hard work we are putting on them will go all in vain.

Parent Event: Second Cohort...

Time flies. I still remember the day of my first interview taken by Shishir dai. And I feel that it was just few days back and here I have been present there on the parents event of the second cohort today at Hotel Annapurna today. It was a very beautiful experience.
I could see so many new faces determined and enthusiastic to enroll themselves as the second cohort of 'Teach For Nepal'. And I feel lucky to communicate with them and answer their queries. On my table there were Eva and her parents. Her parents were so conscious about her decision, what Teach For Nepal really is? And it's obvious reaction as well. And the obvious curiousness. I hope that I was successful to quench their thirst of curiousness. I found the new cohorts really enthusiastic. I do hope that they would be determined and also would be better than us. And most of all I am so happy to see Bikash Sir as the second cohort.
