Teachers Deserve Respect

A new pupil, who has been already kicked out of three school, was brought to the school. One teacher came to class, looked at a new pupil and thought: "Where only such people are from…" The second teacher came, saw a new pupil, and said with anger:-There is no lack of you.. The third teacher came to class. - Do we have a new pupil? -he rejoiced. He went to a new pupil, shook his hand, looked into his eyes, smiled and said,"Good morning!..I was waiting for you!...The teacher is a person who makes a child feel so precious about him/herself. In our life where ever we reach, when we look back we remember some one so special who was not from our blood but always supported us and for whom we would like to give all the credit of our success, a teacher.
What the kids learn from teachers at  a young age will most likely stay with them for the rest of their lives.  In this context, we can say that teachers are such who see something in us and inspire us, guide us and then we move on to the path of being someone of a prestigious position, a doctor, an engineer, a pilot, a manager and so on. But what do we do for those teachers? Even we can't respect them and we think that teaching is an inferior job and when we can't do anything significant in our lives then we land up being a teacher. Few days back, one of the passengers in micro bus on which I was travelling was talking with his friend that his sister is going to give S.L.C. examination this year and he had already planned what he is going to make his sister do during her vacation, i.e teaching the primary level students. As she is not so talented there are no other career options for her, so it would be a good experience for her and after all being a female teaching is a very good option as it's only a 10 to 5 job. I am sure that not only him but many people of our society has the similar opinion.
But, in reality teachers are an extremely important part of any society for multiple reasons. They are those who can turn a child into a leader of the next generation. And it is believed that every child should have a caring adult in their lives to move forward and often times that adult is a teacher. The teacher is an architect of any future generation. So to assume the responsibilities of a teacher one has to be competent, morally upright and knowledgeable. It's only the person who is himself/herself a teacher knows the challenges he/she has to face inside and outside the classroom. Besides academics, students also learn teacher's modes of dressing, style of conversation, punctuality, hard work, honesty obedience etc. which are the values of our society. Though many may have landed on teaching profession by chance, but they will always appreciate it and will be satisfied in what they are doing and they must be learning such things which can never be learnt in any other profession. After all,  a study done jointly conducted by economists at Harvard and Columbia Universities had proved that, the overall effect of a bad teacher is similar to the fourth grade students missing 40 percent of the school year.
Every society is heterogeneous with so many kinds of people and their belief but every belief system respects a teacher. Even our religion respects it, Hinduism has emphasized the importance of finding a guru who can impart transcendental knowledge. According to Buddhism, it is essential to realize that teacher is ultimately important because he/she can lead us to our own inner wisdom-our own 'inner guru'. Christianity and Islam too think teachers as the ambassadors of god. Here, I would not like to compare teacher with God but would like to request that we must give them the respect for their role that they play in the transformation of our society. And teachers deserve the respect.

Student's Interaction Program 2070

Yes, we always need to do so many interesting things so that we could focus our children towards learning. Sometimes it just seems that we have to be too friendly to know their problems and sometimes we have to be too rude to make them walk on the right path..And our students who are of the sub-urban background need a lot of things to move forward in their lives. We have to think about that also. With these things in our mind, we planned to organize an interaction program of our students with other students so that they would know children from other background and do some program themselves which would let them see their good points as well as weak points themselves. That's why we thought, why don't we interact them with the students of other students of Teach For Nepal Fellows. So we talked with Prabin dai and Rojee and started to work for it. And, this time to boost up their leadership qualities, we just said them to do whatever they can do themselves, and we would just guide them when they are in problem.
And with this, we started and today our plan was a success, we had an interaction program of about hundred students. Yes, there were so many problems that we could see. Some of them became too shy whereas some of them were too loud. And even some didn't get much time to interact. The time was not enough and many more problems. But if we keep these problems aside and look at the benefits, we would surely know that there were so many things that they gained. They gained new experience, new friends, new outlook towards people and learnt a lot. Not only them we as a fellow also learnt a lot. So we aspire to do these again in coming days with improvements.

Nervousness............

Everyone could see the nervousness on my face today. I had never been so till today. This was because today my students were performing drama for the first time in such a big mass. Though we had been preparing for the drama and most of all my students love performing it, I was shaking with nervousness. Seetu was continuously giving me support and saying, "Every thing will be fine Bhawana miss",but also I was not being able to think that. And this nervousness even increased when my children became late for the rehearsal too. They had to come at 11.30 am. But it was already 1.00pm and they hadn't arrived. My eyes were on the gate of Hotel Annapurna, and I was peeping in every micro bus that was entering inside but I couldn't see any known faces till 1. 15 pm.
They came and we instantly started preparing for the rehearsal and that made me more nervous because it was really so worse I can't explain. The character was addressing the other character with his own name. They looked like as they were just roaming around the stage. Some of them forgot their dialogues and I don't remember other but ya, it was very bad.

The at 2.00 pm, the program started. And my heart was beating faster. I don't know till that time who told what, what things they said. I was just thinking about my student's performance. And finally Swastika di called our name and then we went on to the stage. They started performing the act. They did it so gracefully. No one forgot the dialogue. No one missed their place and even they managed the time. It went without any mistake. Then I took a long breath. Finally I went to them and hugged them for their performance and even they were so happy. I could see that some of the guests of the program were talking with my students and giving them positive comments. They were so proud that they were able to perform so well and this made me proud too..........

17th Annual Function of our school

Magh 20, the day our school was established and today it has been seventeen years. We had heard that our school celebrates its annual function with a great zeal and in a huge way. And so did today's event happen. Most of all students were so eager as today was the day they would be able to enjoy a lot, sing, dance, get prizes for their achievements. I was also eager to see the program.
Preparing materials for decoration

Juni and Binee conducting the program

Nischal and Prajwal conducting the program

Junior level students dance

Sabita and Lasata conducting the program

Bikash sir's presentation

And most of all I was eager to see the performances of the students and especially the anchors as it was on my responsibility to teach them that part and it was the first time they were doing in such a big event. And I had also got the information that the program would not run as per the way it was going to run today. The students would not speak like that. So I was very keen to see how my children would do. But when it started it just went on smoothly. My students who did the anchoring of the program also performed well and every one appreciated them and they were also happy about it and were encouraged to do in a similar way later also. So I am really happy today and not only that other students performance also went great.
